Apple Season Checklist: Making the Most of Crisp Fall Days

Apple Season Checklist: Making the Most of Crisp Fall Days

Apple season is here, so move over, pumpkin spice—the true champion of autumn is crisp, crunchy, and doesn’t require a barista. Whether baked into a warm pie, bobbed for at a party, or drenched in caramel, apples are the ultimate fall crowd-pleaser. With varieties ranging from sweet overachievers to tart rebels, it’s the one seasonal treat that’s as fun to eat as it is healthy. Far from just a sugary treat, apples are packed with fiber, loaded with vitamin C and practically bursting with antioxidants, all while remaining low in calories.

Common Apple Varieties

Fuji – Dense, very sweet and crisp, holds well in storage, perfect for fresh eating and light baking.

Cosmic Crisp – Juicy, firm, with a balance of sweet-tart; great for snacking.

McIntosh – Tender and slightly tart-sweet. This apple breaks down easily, so it’s best for applesauce, apple butter and cider.

Golden Delicious – Sweet, mellow, and semi-firm; useful for snacking, salads and baking.
